Climb for Sight changed my life. I knew going into it that it would be a challenge to make it up the mountain and to raise the money and I looked forward to testing myself in both areas. The feeling I got from donating that much money to a charity was amazing and I found that people were surprisingly giving if you just ask. Then the climb came, and between seeing the breathtaking landscapes and wildlife of Africa, meeting the incredibly humble people, and making it to the top of Kilimanjaro I was blown away! I dream of Africa often and hope to do it all again in the future! Thank you Pete and Doug for guiding me and making all of this possible.

Just back from my second Climb for Sight! Less than 2 hours to the top of the mountain, I had to turn back. Yet, it was another life changing adventure. I reached the summit on the first climb 7 years ago. On "Kili" I experienced the agony and the ecstasy of completing a goal and falling just short. I think I need to try it once more. Between the two climbs I raised enough money to fund the sight-saving surgery for 150 Guatemalan children. For that alone I will climb again.

The charge of the bull elephant that was blocking the road while on safari, the hours of talking, listening and hiking up the ever-changing climate zones on the mountain, the shortness of breath that hit my chest when I tried to jog back to get my camera at 13,000 feet, the quiet of the day and deeper quiet of the night, the fatigue-hunger and elation of being at Uhuru Peak 19,340 feet above sea level on the roof of Africa. The Climb for Sight was an adventure of a lifetime.

The trip was an amazing experience. We all summited so we are definitely excited about that, but that was only one of the many highlights. We met so many wonderful people from MEM, the safari was a great adventure filled with fascinating sights, the weather was perfect, and knowing that we are supporting a worthwhile cause made it even better!!!

This mountain will be a part of me forever, there is no place on earth quite like it. It was an emotional, exhausting, and amazing accomplishment.
